The Vancouver Asahi were a Japanese-Canadian baseball team that played from 1914 to 1941. They used their own strategic skills known as “brainball” or “smartball” which incorporated bunting and aggressive base stealing. Starting in 1937, the team won the Pacific Northwest Championship five years in a row. The Asahi were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003 and the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
